sketchbook
Content Warning: Some nudity.
A big part of my practice, even as a photographer, is to make space to play. In this case, it’s a canvas to draw on.
Sometimes, a sketch will remain a sketch and a fun thing I would have done. At other times, it might snag me, and not let me go until I do more, make more, play more. I’m not at all precious about them, and not about to bandy them about to get hired as an illustrator but there is a certain joy in looking into people’s sketchbooks. I myself used to love finding them on the conceptart.org forums back in the day and seeing what the full-time artists used to get up to. Why deny someone a giggle by looking at my — and yes, this is what they are — doodles?
